Thinkific Plus Review: A Practical Look at What It’s Like to Build and Scale on Thinkific’s Enterprise Tier

Thinkific Plus is the tier many organisations look at once they’ve outgrown a basic online course setup and need something that can support serious training, multiple learning portals, and a more polished student experience. This article is a comprehensive Thinkific review, offering an in-depth look at the platform’s features, usability, and how it fits the needs of different teams. Thinkific Plus works as both a learning platform and an online course platform, designed for organisations that need scalable online education tools for course creation, management, and monetisation.

I’ve used Thinkific Plus extensively across two major platforms — SchudioTV and The Ability Bridge — and I work with organisations through Course Scale Up who are building more advanced learning programmes on Thinkific.

Because of that, this Thinkific Plus review is based entirely on real use: how it performs, what you actually get for your investment, and the parts that matter most once you’re running a sizeable learning environment.

What the Thinkific Plus online course platform is designed for

Thinkific Plus isn’t just a small step up from a regular plan. It’s aimed at organisations that need:

  • high-volume training

  • multiple learning sites

  • detailed control of design

  • SSO, API access or both

  • reliable B2B delivery

  • dedicated support

Thinkific Plus also supports digital learning initiatives for organisations seeking to transform their training delivery.

Compared with other course platforms, Thinkific Plus stands out for its ability to support complex setups, deeper customisation, and stronger support for organisations that treat online learning as part of their core work.

It’s the tier you choose when your course platform needs to sit at the centre of how your organisation delivers training. Thinkific Plus can function as a full learning management system for teams with more advanced requirements, and can serve as the backbone for an online business focused on education and training.

My experience with Thinkific Plus

When we moved SchudioTV and The Ability Bridge onto Thinkific Plus, we had clear reasons:

  • Multiple sites under one account – We needed separate portals for different groups, each with its own content and visual identity. Plus made this achievable without building everything from scratch.

  • API + SSO – We wanted a smoother link between Thinkific and our other systems. Plus provided the tools for this, and we didn’t need heavy developer involvement because the platform handles most of the technical elements.

  • Room for long-term growth – Both platforms expanded far beyond what we planned at the beginning. Thinkific coped with the increase in content and enrolments with no need for a rebuild. Creating a new course in Thinkific is straightforward—just a few clicks to set up, customise, and manage your course content. Whether you’re launching your first online course or scaling to multiple programs, the platform offers flexible tools and templates to support your needs. You can offer unlimited courses on this tier.

Thinkific shared this journey in their published case study about Schudio, where they explain how Thinkific Plus supported large-scale delivery across the education sector and why the features mattered. You can read it here: https://www.thinkific.com/case-studies/schudio/

The article shows how we use Plus in a real organisation and why it’s become central to our training strategy.

What you get with Thinkific Plus

Multiple learning environments

Thinkific calls these “sites,” and they let you create separate learning portals under one main account. Each site can work as a dedicated course site or course website, tailored to specific audiences and branded differently where needed. The Thinkific site builder gives you good options for structuring each portal in a way that fits your programme. You can easily create and customise course pages for each portal, using templates and design tools to highlight your courses and improve engagement.

This is particularly helpful if you’re training:

  • different client groups

  • separate business units

  • partner organisations

  • external customers and internal staff

This setup has saved us countless hours across our own work.

API access and advanced analytics

As your delivery grows, manual tasks quickly become unmanageable.

API access is one of the advanced features available on Thinkific Plus, enabling automation and integration beyond basic capabilities.

API access means you can automate:

  • enrolments

  • reporting

  • user sync

  • integrations

  • custom workflows

It also lets you connect with third-party tools to extend what Thinkific can do. We rely on this heavily across both of our platforms.

Stable structure for B2B delivery

If you train organisations rather than individuals, you’ll often need:

  • bulk enrolments

  • private cohorts

  • grouped reporting

  • dedicated client areas

Thinkific Plus gives you the tools to run this reliably, including robust student management features to help organise cohorts and track group progress.

Strong dedicated support

Thinkific Plus includes a dedicated Customer Success Manager. Alongside this, the wider support team is quick to respond to onboarding queries, technical issues, or integration questions. You can raise a support ticket whenever you need help, and certain paid plans offer live chat support, providing immediate assistance for urgent issues.

For mission-critical platforms, this level of help is reassuring.

Course builder and creation tools

Thinkific’s user friendly course builder features a drag and drop builder, making it easy to create courses without any technical skills. This is ideal for teams launching their first online course as well as those managing multiple programmes.

You can add multimedia lessons such as videos, audio, presentations, PDFs, and other downloadable materials directly into your content. The drag and drop builder allows you to easily reorganise lessons as your course develops.

No coding skills are required to use the course builder, so it’s accessible for all users.

If you want a quicker start, Thinkific includes templates to help you structure courses. You can also use the platform’s AI features to outline lessons, generate ideas, and refine your content.

For teams that use interactive modules, Thinkific supports SCORM, so you can upload content from tools like Articulate Storyline or Adobe Captivate.

Single Sign-On (SSO)

Thinkific provides a set of built in sales tools and a landing page builder to help you sell courses and sell digital downloads. You can build sales pages and landing pages directly in the platform, making it easy to highlight your key message and course content. Thinkific's marketing tools are designed to help you promote and sell online courses, though they are basic and may require third-party integrations for advanced marketing needs.

Marketing tools include:

  • lead capture

  • built-in email tools

  • preview lessons

  • coupons

  • course bundles

  • membership libraries

The platform offers multiple payment options, supporting both one-time and recurring payments through Stripe or PayPal. You can also create subscription programmes if you want recurring income. Some features, such as live chat support and advanced marketing tools, are available only on a paid plan or paid plans.

Thinkific includes essential tools for selling online courses and digital products, helping creators sell courses successfully. Users can sell digital downloads alongside their courses.

Tracking student progress, issuing certificates, and managing enrolments are all handled in the same place.

Analytics and reporting

Thinkific’s reporting tools give you a clear view of:

  • student activity

  • course progress

  • revenue

  • engagement patterns

You can easily track progress for individual students and cohorts, monitoring achievements and identifying learners who may need extra support.

You can tailor reports to focus on the metrics that matter to you. This is particularly useful for organisations with multiple courses or large cohorts.

With solid data, you can make improvements to your courses, adjust your content, and strengthen your programme over time.

Student recognition and engagement tools

Thinkific includes tools to help create a more engaging learning environment.

You can use:

  • completion certificates

  • badges

  • discussions

  • discussion forums

  • community spaces

  • interactive communities

These features foster student engagement by encouraging participation, peer support, and active learning. Discussion forums and interactive communities help build real-time connections among learners, making it easier to support and motivate students throughout your courses. Progress tracking lets you see who may need extra help.

What Thinkific Plus does well

When I speak with clients comparing Thinkific with Kajabi, Teachable, or LearnWorlds, they usually focus on three things

01
Easy to manage multiple courses at scale

The admin area stays tidy even with large enrolments and a significant number of courses.
You don’t need a developer to keep everything running.

02
Customisable design

You can create a branded and organised learning environment without building everything manually. If you want to go further, you can design more advanced templates. We do this regularly for clients. You can also remove or customise Thinkific branding to create a more polished site.

03
Clear pricing at the enterprise level

Thinkific offers several pricing plans, including Thinkific Plus and a free version for those who want to test the platform before committing. Once you’re on Plus, you get most of what you need included in the tier. Lower Thinkific plans, such as the basic plan or free version, suit smaller organisations, but they come with limitations that don’t exist on Plus. For example, advanced customisation and priority support are exclusive to higher-tier pricing plans like Plus, while the free version is ideal for exploring core features with no upfront cost.

Plus removes a lot of the add-on costs you often see in enterprise LMS platforms.

Things to think about before choosing Plus

Thinkific Plus is powerful, but it isn’t the right fit for every organisation.

You may not need Plus if:

  • you’re running only one or two courses

  • you don’t need SSO or API access

  • you’re mainly selling to individuals

Thinkific Plus handles most of the technical stuff for you, so you can focus on content and delivery.

You should look at Plus if:

  • you need multiple sites

  • you’re training staff or partners

  • you want reliable B2B delivery

  • you want automation

  • you want a setup that will grow with you

  • you want to offer digital downloads

  • you’re aiming to reach a larger audience and need more control of sales and management

  • you want digital downloads and course content managed in the same place

Thinkific Plus for organisations: the real benefit

From working with organisations across the UK and beyond, I’ve seen the value of Thinkific Plus build steadily as programmes expand. Thinkific Plus is ideal for organisations running multiple online learning programs at scale, making it easy to manage diverse courses and memberships efficiently.

Features like progress tracking and the course player help learners move through content confidently, while the course builder takes away much of the friction normally found in managing online learning. Interactive lessons add variety and improve the experience for learners.

The main gains come from:

  • smoother onboarding

  • reduced admin

  • clearer delivery for clients

  • less repetition

  • a consistent structure across all groups

This is why many teams I support eventually move onto Plus, even if they begin on a lower tier.
